Director Bala’s upcoming film Naan Kadavul Starring Arya and Pooja is all packed for release, and is hoped to be out for diwali.

The movie, a very unique theme in todays cinema, is about the life of a Godman (Rudran) played by Aarya and a blind beggar girl (Amsavalli) played by Pooja.

Bala has been very choosy about his actors, since initially Ajith and Bhavana had been roped in to play the lead roles, but after they had pulled out, Aarya and Pooja grabbed the offer. And as for Amsavalli, as many as four heroines were rejected, since the director was particular about a good performer with typical Tamil looks, he was finally satisfied with Pooja, after a tedious 6 month hunt. Pooja and Arya are acting together for the fourth time after Ullam Ketkume, Pattiyal and Oram Po.

Playnig the role of a Barbaric Godman is definitely not an easy job, and Aarya has worked hard to fit the character, maintaining his long beard and unkempt looks for 2 yrs until the total shoot was wrapped up. The major parts of the movie were shot in Kasi and Varanasi.

Director Bala has taken an extremely bold step, taking the movie to another level by adding a bit of cannibalism to the already barbaric Godman, where he eats the flesh of his dead lover, in the climax. The movie revolves totally around the hero, who is very practical about life and lives it on his own terms, unaffected by society.

Cameraman Arthur Wilson has given his best yet again and Maestro Ilayaraja's music has given life to the film.

The movie cannot be perceived or judged from a particular angle, and is totally left to the understanding and application of individual capability and maturity. Though this could bring out mixed emotions from the audience, the result will have to be awaited until diwali.
